Blick oberhalb des Nymphenbades Richtung Sempergalerie und Semperoper.
Die Anlage liegt hinter dem Französischen Pavillon und gehört zu den schönsten Brunnen des Barocks. Es ist kein Bad zum baden wie man vielleicht vermutet sondern eine Art Kulisse oder Saal die einer Grotte ähnelt umgeben mit plastischen Figuren und Schmuck aus Sandstein.
Das Nymphenbad gehört zum Gebäudekomplex des Zwingers im Zentrum von Dresden. Gebaut wurde er ab 1710 unter der Leitung des Architekten Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann und des Bildhauers Balthasar Permoser. Das Projekt wurde nach dem Tod von Kurfürst Friedrich August 1. weitergeführt bis hin zum Bau der Galerie 1855 durch Gottfried Semper die auch seinen Namen erhielt.
