View east of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge from the W San Francisco.
The W San Francisco, located at 181 3rd Street, was built by Hornberger + Worstell and opened for business on May 7, 1999. The 33-floor, 315-foot tall highrise luxury boutique hotel was San Francisco’s tallest concrete framed building until The Paramount was completed three years later. Each of the 404 rooms are decorated with whimsical Asian influences like Chinese checkers, origami butterflies, and koi print bathroom accents and feature panoramic views of the Bay Bridge and San Francisco skyline.
In 2011, the W San Francisco launched a redesigned welcome area–including the Welcome Desk, Living Room, Living Room Bar and Upstairs Bar, and the TRACE restaurant–designed by San Francisco-based interior designer and architect Stanley Saitowitz of Natoma Architects.
